You will never know the journey that you will be on. When I was attending Huntington College, all the way back in the 90’s, I was supposed to be a High School History teacher. The problem with being a HS History teacher after graduating from a Private Christian College in Indiana, is that HS teachers did not make enough to pay back that loan bill each month. So, I took a chance with the Boy Scouts of America, and it was a good path, really thought that I had found my calling, but as a professional Scouter my interest was in the Program side, and not so much the fundraising side, don’t get me wrong, I was good at it, but at that time it was necessary.

Fast forward 10 years, and I’ve learned a lot with the BSA, in time management, program planning, volunteer management, people management, recruitment, AND fundraising. I was getting restless, and I turned my sights to my love, music and combing that with my hidden talent of fundraising. It is during this transition from the BSA to Christian Radio Ministry that I was introduced to Movie Mondays and NPSC, and also the importance of learning my craft, surrounding yourself with mentors, and the art of relationship and storytelling fundraising. I spent 10-years with the Radio Ministry and it is still my greatest accomplishment, outside of 20+ years of marriage and raising 3 boys. The changes that we implemented though on a regional radio network really helped change the work of the ministry and the mission of the listeners that supported that ministry.

Unfortunately, change is inevitable, and while I enjoyed my time there, the owners of the ministry so the net positive of our work and sold our network to another radio ministry, and Brian is out to find another opportunity, which I did, spending the COVID pandemic with a software company that works with nonprofits, and eventually arriving at my current stop of building relationship and connecting mission with supporters for a ministry working with the persecuted Christian Church around the world.

You never know the journey that you will take, you just need to be ready to hear it, and hang on.
