Day 1: Gratitude Brainstorm

  • Day 1: Gratitude Brainstorm

Posted by Joshua Alcorn on February 19, 2024 at 1:33 am

Let’s get the week rolling with a brainstorming exercise.

Take a look at this list of 50 Ways to Thank a Donor from the Nifty Fifty Fridays archive.

Grab a sheet of paper or open up a new Word doc.  At the top write “send our standard thank you note.”  Now cross that out.  🙂

Next, set a timer for 90 seconds and write down as many ways to thank a donor as you can.  You can be really specific for donors you know (Send donor Homer donuts – they’re his favorite) or broad and general (send all donors a branded bookmark).

When the timer is up, look over your list.  Pick three that seem actionable this week and share them in the comments below.

Then respond to two of your peer’s posts!

1). Thank a donor on our social media — I asked a donor to write “why I give” for our donor spotlight for Thankuary and I will share that this week

    2) I will send our new donors an I think you are tea-rrific thank you card (with logo tea inside)

    3) Create a bookmark to send ~ I liked that idea and it’s easily mailable.

Is the logo tea something you produce in-house or order from a vendor? and would you be willing to share a photo or a link to the vendor? This sounds like a really fun idea.

DIY by me lol Pictures attached — although the second pic, I obviously hadn’t had coffee yet, but you get the idea! I bought blank tea bags on Amazon, added a single bag of tea, and then added a 2″ square printed label to seal it closed, used a sticky dot to attach to the inside of the card. I can email you Amazon links if you like.

I love it so much! I started talking to a colleague the minute I saw the photo that you shared. Thank you!

    1. I’m going to send two longtime donors a great vegan recipe.

    2. Send a thank you email regarding a recent concert to donors who went to the concert.

    3. Make a thank you video for donors who have already given in 2o24.

Vegan recipe – Yum!! Is this based on what you know about the donor or is it related to your org’s mission?

We do Bombbomb videos at the end of the year for all donors over $100. We also have a board member call first-time donors. And I call anyone who donates over $100.

    1. Organize thank-you note lists for board members

    2. Create a digital thank-you wolf image to send through email.

    3. Send links to current wolf-related articles.

Sorry so short before! Our mission is to teach the world about wolves. We provide free educational resources to schools around the country and share research from wolf biologists all around the world. Its about educating about healthy ecosystems and inspiring young future biologists from communities of color. wolf.org

Bombbomb is a video platform that integrates with Gmail. You can record short videos to send to donors. We love it!
